This is the number 1 laptop that I recommend to almost everyone these days. It has everything! Great specs, great build quality, ports, everything. Although, the rest of the laptops that I am featuring in this post, have more RAM than the Helios 500.
I am not sure why they did not go with 32GB of RAM by default at this price point. Also, if they at least could've added a 500GB of SSD storage, that would've been a better overall value, for the price.
I give this laptop 8 out of 10. Because of not having 32GB of RAM, and not adding at least a 500GB of SSD, I did not give it 10 out of 10.

This laptop has it all as well, kinda.
Looking at the specs, its main features seem to be its 17.3 Inches of Display. 32GB of DDR4 2666MHz RAM. And the massive storage capacity of 1TB of NVMe SSD + a 2TB of HDD Storage.
The compromise they made is that they used the GTX 1060 with 6GB of VRAM, instead of GTX 1070 Graphics Card. But, it could be a good trade for some, who do not game that much, but are more focused towards video editing and content creation. Because Graphics Card does not help much in that area, as of now. CPU still has more value than the GPU when it comes to these things.
Overall, I give it 9 out of 10. If it had a better looking design, and had a GTX 1070 inside, I would have given it 11 out of 10.

This is a "decent" overall gaming laptop. Although I am not a big fan of them adding a 120Hz display in the laptop. They could've just gone ahead with 144Hz one, but they didn't go all out, that's what I feel concerned about a bit. But the rest of the specs aren't bad by any means either.
I just feel that they did not go all out either, and also did not provide a 32GB of RAM, compared to the second entry in our list, this doesn't seem like a good deal to me, for some reason.
I'd give it 7 out of 10, for not going all out and just adding a 144Hz display. Or they could've just sticked with a 60Hz one, and offered 32GB of RAM and a 1TB of HDD + a 1 or 2TB of HDD along with it.

I almost love everything about this laptop.
The latest 8th Gen i7 Processor. Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 8GB of VRAM Graphics Card. The 17.3 inches of 144Hz 9ms Display. They've paired a 500GB of NVMe SSD with a 1TB of HDD.
I wish the they had used at least a 1TB of SSD with a 1TB of HDD, that would've been a perfect combination of all the specs. But, still, it is the highest rated laptop in our list so far.
Overall, I'd give it 9+ out of 10. 10 out of 10, if they had gone with a 1TB of Solid State Drive, paired with a 1TB of HDD.

There's a few things I do not like about this one.
First, it only offers a 500GB of SSD storage, and isn't even paired with an HDD. Not cool.
Secondly, they've used 16GB of RAM only. The least they could've done, they could've added 32GB of RAM, if they weren't going to pair an HDD with the SSD storage.
Lastly, it has a simple 17.3 inches of display, not even a 120Hz one, or better yet, a 144Hz one.
Overall, I'd give it 6 out of 10. It is the lowest rated laptop on this list, yet. These few things they've messed up, if they hadn't, it probably would have gotten 8 or 9 out of 10.

Every link on Laptop Anatomy that leads to Amazon, is an Affiliate Link. Omar earns a small commission whenever someone clicks on an Amazon link, and purchases something. No matter if it is a Laptop, or some Washing Powder. 🤭Can I use any of these laptops for video editing as well?
Sure you can. These laptops are featuring top of the line specs that not many laptops are offering at the moment. No matter which one out of these 5 you pick for yourself, you can edit videos on it with ease.
If you wanna know which one would I pick out of these 5 for both video editing and playing games, I'd say the Helios 500. I would replace its 256GB of SSD with a 1 Terabyte, and maybe even remove the 1 Terabyte HDD and replace that with a 1 TB SSD as well.
Because I'll be buying it on a massive discount on Black Friday, I can spend the money I saved with the discount, buying an extra SSD storage for it.
The main reason I would have gone with the Helios 500, would have been its design. It is designed to keep the insides cool and is really air-flow friendly. It looks nice too, because I haven't seen many laptops with a light blue color.
Your pick could defer from mine, because it was really hard for me to choose one out of these myself. But I already have a Helios 300, and I wanna upgrade it to the Helios 500 whenever possible, so I'd go with the Helios 500 for sure. If possible, I'd also like to choose the version that comes with the i9 Processor, and not the i7 one. Although the i7 version would keep your laptop running at low temperatures most of the times, when it is not running at 100% speed.
Are there better laptops than these in the market?
For sure!
But you'll have to spend a lot more than $2,000 on them. I couldn't find any better value laptops than these in the $2,000 budget range.
Still, if you wanna check out what are some of the other options, no matter what the price may be, you can check out the full list at this link, on Amazon.
I've applied a filter of minimum of $3,000 price and maximum of $10,000.
Will these laptops slow down, or hang while gaming?
Absolutely no! 😉
These are MONSTROUS laptops, and are designed to offer the maximum performance, packing the most latest specs available today.
There could be moments when your laptop is overheating, which usually happens when you've been playing games continuously for hours and hours. But, if you let your laptop take a breather after once in a while, you won't ever have any lagging issues or slow downs.
Another reason it happens is that because most of the times, you you don't clean your laptop. So make sure you keep it clean and dust-free, and clean at least once in a week with a blower or something, using low air pressure, or by using compressed air cleaner or some sort.
What other accessories should I get after buying a gaming laptop?
Well, for me, I always get a gaming mouse after I buy a new gaming laptop. No matter how experienced of a gamer you are, you can't game using the built-in track-pad of your laptop. This is why, I've always been using a mouse, even for just normal daily use, because I just can't get used to using track pad for some reason.
It just feels like you're wasting time by not using a mouse.
So yeah, a gaming mouse is a must in my book, after you buy a new gaming laptop. But after that, you may wanna get a new pair of headphones maybe? It depends on person to person, so whatever you feel the need of the most, get that accessory after buying a mouse.
BTW, the mouse I am using, is the Logitech G403 wired mouse. Because wireless isn't really my thing, I just don't feel confident enough using a wireless mouse. Whereas on a good wired mouse, you know that you will get the most accurate response and feedback.
